Current and upcoming courses are listed on the Helsinki GSE web page Courses (use a filter "FDPE PhD" or "HGSE PhD" - you get the same results). In the right side bar you can find only upcoming FDPE special short courses and workshops.
 
The objective of the core courses is to draw a comprehensive and cohesive picture of the approaches and results of contemporary economics. Field and special courses dig deeper into specific themes, providing students with access to the academic frontier.

Core courses

The core courses on econometrics, macroeconomics and microeconomics are arranged every academic year by the member universities of the Helsinki Graduate School of Economics (Aalto University, Hanken School of Economics and University of Helsinki). The courses are divided into four formally independent modules

Econometrics:

  • Advanced Econometrics 1 (Econometric Methods I, autumn term)
  • Advanced Econometrics 2 (Econometric Methods II, autumn term)
  • Advanced Econometrics 3: Macroeconometrics (spring term)
  • Advanced Econometrics 4: Microeconometrics (spring term)

Macroeconomics:

  • Advanced Macroeconomics 1 (Advanced optimization methods for macroeconomic models, autumn term)
  • Advanced Macroeconomics 2 (Stochastic Recursive Macroeconomic Models, autumn term)
  • Advanced Macroeconomics 3: Monetary Policy and Business Cycles (spring term)
  • Advanced Macroeconomics 4: Real Business Cycles (spring term)

Microeconomics:

  • Advanced Microeconomics 1 (Decision Theory, autumn term)
  • Advanced Microeconomics 2 (Uncertainty and General Equilibrium, autumn term)
  • Advanced Microeconomics 3: Game Theory (spring term)
  • Advanced Microeconomics 4: Information Economics (spring term)

As a rule,all courses are given in English. Course organization and grading follows the hosting university's standards. Credits are registered and degrees granted by the university in which the student is enrolled.
